Welcome to The Grooviest Lit in Town, where some of deviantART's very own writers are featured for their all radical, all gas, and all hangin' works and projects. From prose and poetry, to the depths of novels, soliloquies and articles - it's all here! So hang loose, get jazzed, and keep on being right outta sight.
How far do you have to go in the afterlife to simply sit for a nice, quiet cup of tea?
Our hero's not having any luck with that, no thanks to a growing entourage of "helpful" characters, who lead him to Grand Central Station, it's doors to different worlds, and, eventually, to the Shrine of the Book of cheats.
It's a family-friendly comedy in the flavour of Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Tune in and support the show!
If you would like to be featured, or know a rad piece of art that you love, send it my way! I'm always open to suggestions for anything that I do on deviantART and I would love to hear back from all of you.

GROOVIN' LIT...
Ask WillPain, from morning to night. Jem lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, willing himself to resist the agony. It cracked his bones, seared his very soul, wrung sweat from every pore...the yin fen was merciless. Jem liked to play chicken with the vile powder, seeing how far he could push himself before he needed to take another dose. Sometimes, he could almost convince himself he didn’t need it at all...until the moment his shaking hands uncorked another vial. It was almost like an accident. Woops! I blinked and these sneaking fingers of mine had a measure all laid out before I could stop them! Ugh.
Jem loathed his dependency, his weakness. Most of all, he loathed the way it felt like Yanluo was always with him. I’m with you forever, his own silver eyes seemed to say, reflected back at him from the mirror. I rule you, the trembling in his limbs screamed at him in the night. You’ll never get away, whispered the flecks of blood that sta
A Dancing ButterflyEpilogue
The lake has always been my friend. It is a dark place but it has always brought me peace. People see it as a place where the death and the alive meet, but I see it as a place where life is created. Although to the lake, I am only an enemy.
The people inside want to kill me.
Every year at the end of the last month and on full moon I am required by the kingdom to dance for the lake as I am the only lake witch left around the world. My mother, who was also a witch of my kind, failed to please the lake and thus was eaten by the people inhabiting it. It was a horrible week for the whole kingdom and I, as the people of the lake got out of their home to bring horror to our world. This is when I became the witch of the lake, and had to learn the spiritual dance as soon as possible.
The lake was pleased with my dance, and its inhabitants went to rest inside their wet home once again.
People around dislike witches of lakes, because they say we bring bad luck. This is why we have to liv

Your angelic voice has inspired me to create
Since I was a teen.
Hitting notes high above my range – natural and falsetto –
Notes I can only mouth and never hope to sing;
My voice shed its angel wings when I grew boobs
With a stomach to match.
Maybe I grew up with your simplistic yet stupendous sounds,
Maybe my mom listened to you too much
When I was young and impressionable,
But I only ever liked songs like yours – where they lyrics told a story,
Where the lyrics were decent and ‘singalongable’ – where
I could pretend to sing until I ran short on breath.
Though I’m not a lyricist, or singer,
Your songs have brought wisdom to a wild mind
In times of weakness – your music
Lending strength to a soul thriving on imagination,
Creation and courage – I’ve written thousands upon millions of words
Whilst you inspired me from your mere background pr
SaviorI thought I saved you,
But I guess I forgot to ask
If you wanted to be saved.
On Lost Childhood, On Reminiscing And as textbooks replace
Comic books on my desk, as
My bedtime goes from nine to
One in the morning,
My old diary slips in between stress and work—
The pages whisper to me
That things will turn out fine,
That things will turn out fine.
And as my ideal job is no longer a
Painter, but—but what?
(I don't even know)
The crafts I created as a kid remind me—
That I'll do what I love one day,
That I'll do what I love one day.
And as the forest beside my grandmother's house
Is cut down, as restaurants replace the field
Around my home,
Old photos of me and my cousins show up
More and more often on my phone—
They tell me
That we can still be the same
That we can still be the same.

that lingers--
a gingerly whisper
gliding in those
hiding spaces
of mine.

as the puzzle pieces
come together,
you click.

right in
the corner
that tends
to stay silent;
quietly humming
until you're
stuck in my head
on a loop.
